This was the sight that confirmed what I speculated throughout my morning on Spruce Knob: that wasn't fog I was in. It was a cloud.
The "fog" (it was actually a cloud) rolling through the trees on top of Spruce Mountain lent a wonderful, hazy glow to everything.
I was on my way to the western end of Maryland, passing through West Virginia when I saw this view near a restaurant. I had to drive a ways down the mountain before I found enough room to turn around and head back up. It wasn't the photo I expected to get that day, but I'm glad I went back for it.
